Numerous roads across the Mid-South remain snow and slush-covered from the recent winter storm, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. Some melting of the snow has occurred on treated roads today due to abundant sunshine and temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Temperatures will fall back into the teens and lower 20s across the area tonight with re-freezing of precipitation on roads expected to produce treacherous road conditions. Bridges and overpasses will be especially dangerous tonight, as they will quickly refreeze after sundown.
Additionally, black ice will be a major concern tonight as any wet and patchy covered pavement refreezes. Extreme caution should be exercised if you must travel. Please check local road conditions first if you must absolutely travel tonight through tomorrow morning.
