BROWNSVILLE —  The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center in Brownsville will present “An Evening with Jeff Dayton” Saturday, September 10, at 6 p.m. Dayton is a Nashville songwriter and artist who served 15 years as bandleader for Country Music Hall of Fame legend and Grammy award winner Glen Campbell. His songs have been recorded by major touring artists and have been heard on several network TV shows.

“Jeff has traveled and performed all over the world,” says Sonia Outlaw-Clark, Center director, “and we are so happy that he has included Brownsville as one of his stops. It will be a special treat for everyone to meet Jeff and hear about his career and music.”

His show features stories and songs from his time with Campbell, plus experiences performing with other greats such as Kenny Chesney, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, Buck Owens and Bo Diddly, just to name a few.  Dayton’s songs have been recorded by George Strait, Doug Stone, Sarah Darling and used on “The Voice” and “Hawaii Five-O.”

Dayton was born and raised in rural Minnesota and credits his Twin Cities time working with Dizzy Gillespie, Thad Jones and sidemen from Bob Dylan and Prince for giving him a deep sense of the value of “the groove.”

It was after a move to Arizona in the 1980s that the Jeff Dayton Band built a major following, had a regional #1 hit and opened shows for dozens of major tours. And it was at one of those shows, with Merle Haggard, the Judds and Alabama, that he met Glen Campbell. Soon after, Dayton got the call to join Glen’s band. He moved to Nashville in 2000 and has since been writing and working with the cream of Music City’s creative community.

“An Evening with Jeff Dayton” is free with limited seating available. Attendees are asked to call the center to reserve their seats. Tete’s Food Wagon will also be on site for the evening. For more information and to make your reservations, please call 731-779-9000.
