NWS: Freeze Warning in Effect From 1 A.M. Until 9 A.M. Thursday For West Tennessee

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of east Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel…north Mississippi…and West Tennessee.

This afternoon and tonight:

Frost development will occur late tonight as temperatures drop into the lower to mid-30s. A frost advisory has been issued for northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, northeast Mississippi, and for extreme West Tennessee. A freeze warning has been issued for the rest of West Tennessee.

Freeze Warning in effect from 1 am to 9 am CDT Thursday…

*sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected.

*portions of west Tennessee.

*when…from 1 am to 9 am CDT Thursday.

*frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

This warning is for the following counties: Obion-Weakley-Henry-Gibson-Carroll-Benton Tn-Haywood-Crockett-Madison-Chester-Henderson-Decatur-Fayette-Hardeman-Mcnairy-Hardin-Including the cities of Union City, Martin, Dresden, Paris, Humboldt, Milan, Huntingdon, Camden, Brownsville, Alamo, Jackson, Henderson, Lexington, Parsons, Decaturville, Somerville, Oakland, Bolivar, Selmer, and Savannah

Days two through seven: Thursday through Tuesday

Widespread frost is likely Thursday morning as temperatures drop into the lower to mid-30s. Freeze warnings and frost advisories have been issued through 9 am CDT Thursday morning for much of the Mid-South.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
