Health Dept. Confirms Additional COVID-19 Death, 53 New Cases of COVID-19 in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 68-year-old male died Jan. 12 due to complications from COVID-19, according to a news release from the health department. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 156 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 53 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 9,837 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases range from ages 2 to 83.

Epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Twenty-seven Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Three of those patients are on a ventilator.
