The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department will continue to recommend a 14-day quarantine period for close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to a Friday afternoon news release. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently recommends a quarantine period of 14 days.
CDC released two new quarantine options this week allowing close contacts to shorten the length of quarantine if they meet certain criteria.
According to CDC, local public health authorities can determine and establish quarantine options for their jurisdiction. “Based on our local circumstances, which include a high active case count and rising number of cases, Jackson-Madison County will continue to follow the 14-day quarantine guidance,” Regional Director Kim Tedford said.
The best way to protect yourself and others is to stay home for 14 days if you think you’ve been exposed to someone who has COVID-19.
