Hub City Now: Interview with Wendy Trice-Martin and Jennifer Brou

In this episode of "Hub City Now with Tyrone Tony Reed Jr.", the host interviews Wendy Trice Martin, president of the Society for African American Cultural Awareness (SAACA) and Jennifer Brou, SAACA's media specialist.

Trice Martin and Brou spoke about the organizations numerous events and projects: Juneteenth Freedom Day Festival, Harlem Nights Fund Raiser, Miss Jackson Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant, Kwanzaa and the 33rd Annual African Street Festival.

The African Street Festival, will be held Labor Day Weekend (Friday, Sept. 1 through Sunday, September 3) at T.R. White Sportsplex, 304 North Hays Avenue, in Jackson, Tenn.

There will be live entertainment featuring African dance and drummers, R&B, Neo-Soul, Reggae, Blues and Gospel music. There will also be artists, African Drum classes, children’s hut and activities, health screenings, food and merchandise vendors and much, much more!!!

Tyrone interviews Kimberly L. Tedford, RN, director of the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department.

Tedford and I will be talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, how it has changed her department’s day to day operations, the importance of wearing masks and social distancing, the increasing number of cases in the county, how over 50 percent of the county’s cases are African American residents, new COVID-19 symptoms, pre-conditions and those at risk of severe COVID-19 illness and so much more.
