There are over 1,700 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Saturday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Saturday, there are 90,796 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,718 additional cases since Friday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 26 additional deaths to 964.

There have been 53,808 recoveries, 825 more since Friday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 4,196 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 1,331,428 tests have been taken, which is 9,721 more since Friday’s report.
