There are over 2,475 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Thursday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, there are 71,540 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 2,479 additional cases since Wednesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen to 796.

There have been 41,250 recoveries, 1,393 more since Wednesday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 3,497 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 1,123,038 tests have been taken, which is 25,985 more since Wednesday’s report.
