Health Department Announces Sixth COVID-19 Death, 552 Cases of COVID-19 in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for 18 more confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to a Thursday morning news release from the the department. There are now 552 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The release said an 85-year-old male died Wednesday due to complications from COVID-19.

The newest confirmed cases include:

  • 8-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 29-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • Unknown female (not hospitalized)
  • 65-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 45-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 53-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)
  • 57-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 53-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • Unknown male (not hospitalized)
  • 35-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 5-month-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 42-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 48-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 22-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 39-year-old male (hospitalized)
  • 36-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 21-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 53-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)

The department’s epidemiology staff are still trying to contact some of these individuals, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time. The staff is also reaching out to people who had close contact with these cases.

Eight Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. One of those patients is on a ventilator.

The release said 376 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and 41 people say they are feeling better.

The department also released the following demographic information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases.
