There are over 2,270 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 69,061 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 2,273 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen to 783.

There have been 39,857 recoveries, 1,585 more since Wednesday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 3,434 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 1,097,053 tests have been taken, which is 125,733 more since Tuesday’s report.
