There are over 1,455 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Saturday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Saturday, there are 61,006 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,460 additional cases since Friday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen to 738.
There have been 35,435 recoveries, 695 more since Friday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 3 193 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 1,006,616 tests have been taken, which is 12,502 more since Friday’s report.
