There are over 1,180 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Friday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Friday, there are 34,017 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,188 additional cases since Thursday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen to 515.
There have been 582 recoveries, more since Wednesday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 2,238 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 667,336 tests have been taken, which is 15,176 more since Thursday’s report.
