Sam Hamady, owner of Serra of Jackson, said he just wanted to give back to the community Wednesday when he donated 7,500 masks to healthcare workers and first responders to help protect them during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Hamady donated 5,000 masks to West Tennessee Healthcare, which Hamady presented to WTH CEO James Ross Wednesday afternoon at the company’s 189 Stonebridge Blvd, Jackson, Tenn., location. Hamady also donated 1,000 masks to the Jackson Police Department, 1,000 masks to the Jackson Fire Department and 500 masks to the Madison County Fire Department.

Hamady said he plans to give the remaining masks to people in the community during an event he is still working on.

Hamady said his company, which has been in Jackson for 25 years, has always been involved in the community and committed to the community. When the pandemic occurred, he began to wonder what his company could do to help the community he loves. He said he noticed a need for masks and because he was able to acquire 10,000 masks, he knew the best way to help was to donate them to those in the city he loves.

“This is a great city to be in,” Hamady said. “People are always trying to help each other.”
