The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department reported 100 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Madison County Sunday afternoon, according to a news release from the department.
The most recent cases include:
- a 1-year-old male (hospitalization unknown)
- a 49-year-old male (hospitalized)
- a 59-year-old female (hospitalization unknown)
The release said the department’s epidemiology staff is still trying to reach some of these patients, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time. It is also reaching out to people who had contact with these patients.
The department also reported that 519 people for COVID-19 Sunday, April 19, at the Jackson Fairgrounds and 875 people were tested Saturday, April 18, for a total of 1,394 people being tested for COVID-19 this weekend at the Jackson Fairgrounds.
The department also released the following demographic information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases:

Black or African-American: 56 cases, 56 percent
White: 17 cases, 17 percent
Asian: 2 cases, 2 percent
Hispanic: 1 case, 1 percent
Unspecified: 24 cases, 24 percent

Female: 56 cases, 56 percent
Male: 44 cases, 44 percent
HEALTH STATUS:
Recovered: 34 cases, 34 percent
Not Recovered: 28 cases, 28 percent
Better: 14 cases, 14 percent
Unknown: 24 cases, 24 percent
AGE:
0-10: no cases
11-20: 2 case, 2 percent
21-30: 15 cases, 15 percent
31-40: 10 cases, 10 percent
41-50: 22 cases, 22 percent
51-60: 31 cases, 31 percent
61-70: 13 cases, 13 percent
71-80: 5 cases, 5 percent
80+: 1 case, 1 percent
