Kim Tedford, executive director of the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department, announced Tuesday morning that there will be drive-through COVID-19 testing this weekend for anyone who feels they need to be tested. No one will be turned away.
The testing, which is being done by the health department and West Tennessee Healthcare, will be conducted from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, at the Jackson Fairground, 800 S. Highland Ave., in Jackson, Tenn.

COVID-19 tests are limited. Participants will be tested on a first come first serve basis. You do not have to be symptomatic to be tested.

If you feel like you need to have a test, you can. Those with pre-existing conditions like heart disease, diabetes and asthma are especially encouraged to get tested, Tedford said.
Tedford said this testing is being done because Gov. Bill Lee wants to get a picture of the COVID-19 situation in Tennessee before opening the economy back up.

Participants must be at least 16 years of age to be tested. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. You do not have to be a Madison County resident to participate.

Participants who are tested for COVID-19 will be encouraged to self-quarantine at home for 14 days or until they are notified of a negative result.

Please come prepared to wait in line for an extended period of time. Public restrooms will not be available for use. Participants wanting to be tested must remain in their vehicles. Walk-ups will not be accepted.

Citizens must enter the assessment site at Magnolia Street.

Please bring a photo ID and insurance card if available.
