Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris announced Wednesday night that he was renewing the Declaration of Local State of Emergency for Public Health for the county due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The declaration takes effect Thursday.
Harris originally issued the declaration on March 20 and March 25, following Gov. Bill Lee’s March 12 declaration and President Donald Trump’s March 13 declaration.
Harris’s renewal, which was released through email by Madison County Deputy Mayor and HR Director Tony White, orders the following:
- The state of disaster for public health emergency shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of this declaration unless continued or renewed.
- All restrictions, limitations, prohibitions, definitions, and encouragements set forth in the attached Executive Orders No. 17, 21, and 22, are hereby adopted and incorporated by reference as if stated verbatim herein, and the same are hereby ordered to be followed by all citizens, businesses, and organizations within the unincorporated areas of Madison County, Tennessee.
- Any person who willfully violates this order is subject to prosecution as set forth by the laws of the State of Tennessee.
- That this declaration shall take effect at 12:01 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2020.
