An Excessive Heat Warning will go into affect at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, July 3) through 9 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, July 4) across West Tennessee, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. Northeast Mississippi will go under a Heat Advisory at 8 p.m. Thursday. There is a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe weather this evening. Far northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel are under a Slight Risk (2/5) for severe weather tomorrow (Thursday).
Today, July 3, 2024:
Heat:
- The previous Heat Advisory has been upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning
- Heat index values ranging between 110-117 F are expected across the entire Mid-South today
Severe:
- A Marginal Risk is in affect for severe weather in far northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, and far northwestern Tennessee
- Best time frame looks to fall between 7 PM this evening through 2 AM Thursday morning for primary threats of damaging winds (60+ mph) and localized heavy rainfall
Thursday, July 4, 2024:
Heat:
- Today’s Excessive Heat Warning will continue across northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, West Tennessee, and northwest Mississippi (heat indices 110-116 F) through 9 PM tomorrow
- A Heat Advisory will go into affect at 8 PM this evening for northeast Mississippi (heat indices 105-109 F) and remain through 9 Pm tomorrow
Severe:
- A Slight Risk for severe weather exists over far northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel
- A Marginal Risk for severe weather exists over the rest of northeast Arkansas and West Tennessee
- Primary severe threats will be damaging winds (60+ mph) and localized heavy rainfall
