Jackson State Community College (JSCC) is set to expand its current athletic program offerings in the fall of 2025 with the addition of women’s volleyball. The Lady Greenjays will compete in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) league, featuring seven teams in the 2025 season.

Lady Greenjay Volleyball will compete in the college’s gymnasium, now named “The Nest,” located on JSCC’s Jackson Campus. This addition represents a significant milestone in the college’s dedication to enhancing student life and expanding opportunities for student-athletes.

“Jackson State Community College is excited to offer our students a new opportunity to succeed on and off the court,” said JSCC President Dr. Carol Rothstein. “Athletics are a cornerstone of the college experience, both for our athletes and our students. I am excited to see the addition of women’s volleyball to our athletics department and look forward to cheering them on throughout their inaugural season.

The team will compete at the Division II level of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), joining 343 teams nationwide. The introduction of volleyball reinforces JSCC’s ongoing commitment to growth and excellence in collegiate sports.

“We are excited to begin competing in one of the ever-growing sports in our area,” said Athletic Director Kevin Lynum. “We know there is a tremendous amount of talent in our region, and we are eager to provide these students with another opportunity to compete at the collegiate level.”

The inclusion of women’s volleyball marks a historic expansion of Jackson State Community College’s athletic program, set to host seven varsity athletic programs starting in the fall of 2025.

A national search will soon take place to name the program’s inaugural head coach.
