NWS: Wind Chill Advisories in Effect Through Wednesday, Wintery Mix Possible Thursday

Bitter cold wind chills are expected each morning this week and weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. Wind Chill Advisories are in effect through 10 a.m. Wednesday for sub-zero wind chills. Another winter mix is possible Thursday.

Today, Tuesday 1/16:

  • Early morning wind chills between 0° degrees and -10° degrees
  • Expect afternoon high temperatures in the teens and low 20s

 

Tomorrow, Wednesday 1/17:

  • Early morning wind chills between 0° degrees and -10° degrees
  • Afternoon high temperatures in the low 30s

 

Thursday, 1/18:

  • A low-pressure system may bring another wintry mix of snow/rain/freezing rain
  • A brief period of freezing rain in the afternoon could further worsen travel conditions.
  • This system is moving too fast for significant ice accretions. Impacts will likely be limited to slick roads and walkways.

 

Friday – Sunday:

  • More bitter cold and single digit to sub-zero wind chills
  • Saturday and Sunday mornings look the coldest with wind chills between 0° degrees and -10° degrees
