The Jackson Police Department responded to a call of a vehicle possibly being under water in a pond near Howeston Mill Drive around 9 a.m. Sunday morning, according to a Sunday night news release from the Jackson Police Department.

The West Tennessee Dive and Recovery Team was contacted by JPD where they responded and recovered a 2006 Jeep Liberty.

This vehicle belonged to William Brian McKenzie who was reported missing in September 2019. McKenzie was last seen September 27 after leaving work at Denny’s Restaurant, 28 Sand Pebble Drive.

McKenzie is a 21 year old white male who is approximately 6 feet and one inch and weighing 180 pounds.  In a news release from Oct. 2019, it was confirmed McKenzie went by a friend’s residence in Madison County after work and had not been seen since. McKenzie disappeared under suspicious circumstances and his cellular phone was inactive. McKenzie was last seen wearing his black Denny’s work uniform and driving a black 2006 Jeep Liberty, TN license plate # 3L66T7. The vehicle is described to have two distinctive “Star Wars” stickers on each side of the rear glass.

Human remains were found inside the vehicle Sunday and have since been sent to the Tennessee Medical Examiners Office for autopsy, the release said.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released pending the results and identification from the autopsy.
