Winter Storm Warning in Effect Now Through 6 P.M. Thursday

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect now through 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, for the Mid-South, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.

In West Tennessee, the affected counties will include Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Obion, Shelby, Tipton and Weakley.

NWS said heavy snow is expected. The snow might mix briefly with sleet and freezing rain at times. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze possible.

NWS said travel could be very difficult to impossible and it is strongly discouraged. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
