Dr. Nathan Lewis, principal of JCM Early College High, is a proven advocate for students in the Jackson-Madison County School System and has been asked to continue his great work for the district in 2021-2022, according to a news release from the school system. His efforts to secure grants for Career and Technical Education programs across the district have only magnified his role as principal.
Principal at Early College High since 2016, over 100 students will have graduated from JCM-ECH with an Associate Degree by May 2022 under Dr. Lewis’s leadership. Additionally, JCM-ECH has held a Level 5 TVAAS status for three years.
“Dr. Lewis is responsible for a number of improvements JMCSS has made in the last several years. From securing thousands of dollars in robotics grants for our middle schools, to enhancing the academic status of JCM-Early College High through Computer Science and Coding opportunities, Dr. Lewis is a rising administrative star in this state and he’s taken the JCM brand to new heights each year,” said Superintendent Dr. Marlon King.
Lewis is a 1999 graduate of North Side High School and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Freed-Hardeman University. He earned his Educational Specialist degree from FHU in 2014 and a doctoral degree from FHU in 2020.
“My passion has always been to help the students in our community set and achieve their academic goals. We know formal education or technical training past high school are keys to success. And it’s our job as educators to encourage all students to find a path in those directions,” Lewis said.
Lewis began his tenure with JMCSS in 2011 as a 7th grade History teacher at Rose Hill Middle School. After serving as the school’s Instructional Coach for two years, he was promoted to Assistant Principal in 2004. Lewis serves on the Nicaragua Christian School Board and works as an Associate Minister at Crosswinds Church of Christ. He and his wife, Lisa, have one child.
