
The Tennessee Department of Health reported 84 new COVID-19 deaths in Tennessee and over 4,980 new COVID-19 cases, according to Thursday’s data from the department.
As of 2:33 p.m. Thursday, there are 670,482 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 4,983 additional cases since Wednesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 84 additional deaths to 8,232.
There have been 596,883 recoveries or inactive cases. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 2,964 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, which is an decrease of 68 hospitalizations.
A total of 5,939,455 tests have been taken, which is 24,216 more since Wednesday’s report.
