The Jackson-Madison County Library recently added new items to their “Library of Things.” The purpose of the Library of Things is to loan out things people need to use occasionally but do not necessarily want to own. New items include devices to convert cassettes to digital files, vinyl to digital converter, and a 35mm film to digital photo converter. Items used in the kitchen include a bread maker, food dehydrator, food vacuum sealer, ice cream maker, kitty pancake pan and waffle maker. Our expanded collection also includes a sewing machine and drawing stencils.
“Our ‘Library of Things’ has proven to be a very useful and popular collection especially at this time when people have less money to spend on items they only use occasionally,” said Library Director Dinah Harris. “We plan to continue adding items and encourage Jackson-Madison County residents to donate items and request items they think would be useful.”
Patrons wanting to check out these items should come to the Main Library and sign a Library of Things Agreement. There is no cost to check out these items, but patrons will be assessed fines for any items damaged or lost.
