The Tennessee Department of Health reported 61 new COVID-19 deaths in Tennessee and over 8,210 new COVID-19 cases, according to Wednesday’s data from the department.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 422,962 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 8,213 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 61 additional deaths to 5,171.
There have been 376,851 recoveries or inactive cases. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 2,605 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, which is an increase of 46 hospitalizations.
A total of 4,773,224 tests have been taken, which is 44,106 more since Tuesday’s report.
