There are over 1,500 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 157,831 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,502 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 16 additional deaths to 1,797.
There have been 120,675 recoveries, 1,790 more since Tuesday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 7,061 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 2,234,298 tests have been taken, which is 20,349 more since Tuesday’s report.
