Health Department Confirms Three Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 3rd COVID-19 Death in One Family, 343 Active Cases, 2,293 Cases in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 61-year-old female, 60-year-old male, and 85-year-old male died Aug. 30 due to complications from COVID-19, according to Director Kim Tedford. There are now 46 COVID-19 related deaths in Madison County.

Tedford said this is the third COVID-19 death for one family.

The health department received positive test results for 29 more cases of COVID-19. There are now 2,293 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

Tedford said there are also quarantines of city and county employees who have been in contact of people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The newest confirmed cases include 13 males, 16 females, and range from ages 3 months to 78.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Nineteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Two of those patients are on a ventilator.

Amy Garner, West Tennessee Healthcare Chief Compliance & Communications Officer, said there is a record high of 116 COVID-19 patients at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, with 36 in ICU and 26 on ventilators.

Garner said most cases are from Chester County. Gibson. Henderson County and Madison County. She said there are also hospitalizations in Dyersburg.
