There are over 1,935 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 147,353 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,936 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 20 additional deaths to 1,648.
There have been 109,765 recoveries, 1,730 more since Tuesday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 6,603 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 2,098,446 tests have been taken, which is 27,382 more since Tuesday’s report.
