Jackson Police confirmed Wednesday night that 50-year-old Sandra Lynn Gayton, the suspect from the Aug. 7 homicide on South Fairgrounds Street has been apprehended, according to a news release. Gayton was arrested in Arkansas by deputies of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday. She is being held for the U.S. Marshals.
JPD officers responded to a stabbing at the corner of S. Fairgrounds Street and Scott Street around 3:19 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. The release said officers found a white female with a laceration to her neck. EMS responded, but the female died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
Sandra Gayton was identified as the suspect.
