Kroger Delta Division has recalled some cheese dips sold in its deli departments because of potential salmonella contamination, according to a recall alert.
The company said it was notified by supplier Onions 52 that it had received red, yellow, and white onions from Thomson International, Inc., which had been implicated in the salmonella-related outbreak.
According to WMC Action News 5, bulk onions sourced from Thomson International, Inc. were removed Aug. 1 from sale in stores that had been identified as receiving the affected product. It was later determined that several in-store made cheese dips may have used red onions from the produce department as an ingredient.
The dips, which are in plastic containers, were sold between May 15 and Aug. 6 in stores in West Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky (Murray, Paducah) and Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The release said the recall affects Kroger stores located in Greater Memphis area, Tennessee; Arkansas; Mississippi; Western Kentucky; North Carolina; Virginia; Eastern West Virginia; Eastern Kentucky; Southeastern Ohio; Texas and Louisiana; Frys, Fred Meyer and Smiths stores.
