There are over 2,279 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Friday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Friday, there are 73,819 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 2,279 additional cases since Friday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 19 additional deaths to 815.

There have been 42,734 recoveries, 1,484 more since Friday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 3,562 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 1,149, 991 tests have been taken, which is 26,953 more since Thursday’s report.
