The State Capitol Commission meet Wednesday morning to take up the issue of the Nathan Bedford Forrest bust and its future in the Tennessee statehouse. After hearing testimonies and amendments, the commission voted 9:2 shortly after 12 p.m. to removed the bust and place it in the state museum.
Thursday, during a media briefing, Gov. Bill Lee, gave his recommendation: “And these are my thoughts on what the Capitol Commission should do: that we put the bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest in the Tennessee State Museum where it can be part of an exhibit that can be studied, learned from, and seen in full context.”
