There are over 2,100 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Monday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Monday, there are 42,297 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 2,125 additional cases since Sunday according to the report. The death toll has risen to 592.

There have been 26,962 recoveries, 803 more since Sunday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 2,599 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 776,858 tests have been taken, which is 28,629 more since Sunday’s report.
