The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department will begin offering curbside service by appointment at The Women, Infant & Children (WIC) Center Wednesday, July 1, according to a Friday afternoon news release from the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department.
WIC participants will be able to stay in their vehicles while they wait to be seen. “We anticipate some participants, especially pregnant women, may not be comfortable coming back into crowded waiting rooms,” WIC Administrator Chris Ellis said. “Curbside service allows us to extend the waiting area and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.”
WIC participants can use the curbside service to pick up Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program vouchers, breast pumps, and card replacements. Curbside will eventually be available for services that do not require lab measurements. All other services are currently available via telephone through July 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
WIC participants must make an appointment to be seen via curbside service.
The WIC program provides healthy foods for low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under age five.
