Dr. Logan Hampton, President of Lane College, among other college presidents to testify at Senate HELP committee hearing, at 10 a.m. June 4 according to a Facebook post.
President Logan Hampton will testify before The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions during a hearing titled, “COVID-19: Going Back to College Safely.” The purpose of the hearing is to explore the current challenges and implications of decisions that leaders of institutions of higher education (IHEs) are making as they develop plans to safely reopen colleges and universities this Fall. Of interest to the Committee are strategies for diagnostic and serology testing for COVID-19 and other measures. Further, the Committee is interested in hearing recommendations for how IHEs can effectively coordinate with state and local public health officials, and how they can take into consideration the needs of all students in safely reopening and subsequent decision making. UNCF (United Negro College Fund) member-president, Dr. Logan Hampton is Lane College’s 10th president. Lane College, an HBCU in Tennessee, generates $36 million in total economic impact for its local and regional economies.
