The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for nine more confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to a Tuesday morning news release from the department. There are now 177 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The release said eight of the nine newest cases resulted in testing at American Health Communities (AHC) West Tennessee Transitional Care. The department is working to determine whether these eight individuals are residents of Madison County. Right now they are included in the Madison County count because the facility is located in our county. The department’s epidemiology staff is still gathering demographic information for these eight cases.

The ninth newest case is a 45-year-old female and the epidemiology staff is still trying to reach this individual, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time.

The department’s epidemiology staff will also reach out to people who had close contact with these cases.

Two Madison County residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, with one of those patients on a ventilator.

The release said 153 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and eight people say they are feeling better.
