The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department was notified this week of a second confirmed novel coronavirus death in Madison County, according to a Wednesday morning news release from the department. The 77-year-old female, who was a resident of American Health Communities (AHC) Forest Cove in Jackson, died Saturday in hospice care.
The department also received positive test results for one more confirmed case of COVID-19, for a total of 164 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.
The release said the most recent case is a 54-year-old female, who is not hospitalized. The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to people who had contact with this patient.
Three Madison County residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, with two of those patients on ventilators.
The release said 143 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and eight people say they are feeling better.
