As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 7,842 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the death toll has risen to 166.

There have been 4,012 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 775 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 114,980 tests have been taken.

According to Wednesday’s data, 3,637 white Tennesseans with COVID-19 make up 46.4 percent of the cases, while 1,620 black or African-American Tennesseans make up 20.7 percent of the cases.
