Over 6,700 Tennesseans have tested positive for the novel coronavirus and three additional COVID-19 deaths has been reported, according to Saturday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Saturday, there are 6,762 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the death toll has risen to 145.
Eighty-seven Tennessean men with COVID-19 have died and 56 Tennessean women have died. Eighty-seven of the state’s COVID-19 deaths are white Tennesseans, while 46 of the deaths are black or African American Tennesseans. Two of the deaths are other or Multiracial Tennesseans, three were Asian Tennesseans and six Hispanic or Latino Tennesseans.
There have been 3,234 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 719 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 83,824 tests have come back negative from private and state labs and a total of 90,586 tests have been taken.
According to Saturday’s data, 3,282 white Tennesseans with COVID-19 make up 49 percent of the cases, while 1,437 black or African-American Tennesseans make up 21 percent of the cases. The data also showed that 403 Tennesseans with COVID-19 who are other or multiracial make up 6 percent of the cases while 123 COVID-19 positive Asian Tennesseans make up 2 percent of the state’s cases. The data showed that 429 COVID-19 positive Hispanic or Latino Tennesseans make up 6.3 percent of the state’s COVID-19 cases.
The age range with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 is the 21-30 age range with 1,353 confirmed cases, with the 51-60 age range the second-highest age range with 1,236 confirmed cases. The lowest age range of confirmed cases is 0-10 range with 84 confirmed cases, with the 81+ age range the second-lowest age range with 220 confirmed cases.
The 81+ age range has the most reported deaths, with 48 deaths reported, followed by 38 deaths in the 71-80 age range and 35 deaths in the 61-70 age group. The only age group with no reported deaths is the 11-20 age group, followed by age groups 0-10, 21-30 and 31-40 with one death reported in each age group.
The data showed that female Tennesseans make up 51 percent of confirmed cases with 3,442 cases, while male Tennesseans make up 46 percent of confirmed cases with 3,16 cases. There are 194 cases (3 percent) pending.
