Madison County Now Has 8 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases, Health Officials Say

The number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus in Madison County rose by four Monday, bringing the total number of cases to eight, according to the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department.

Three of the new cases were announced Monday morning by the Health Department’s Executive Director Kim Tedford during a media briefing. The fourth new case was announced in a media release shortly before 4 p.m. Monday.

According to the news release,  the newest patients are a 30-year-old male, a 52-year-old female, a 72-year-old male, and a 45- year-old female. The 72-year-old male patient is currently hospitalized. The other three were told to self-quarantine at home.

The release said the health department’s staff are reaching out to people who had contacts with these patients.
