Waffle House announced through social media Tuesday that it is closing over 360 of its restaurants during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
While 1,627 Waffle House restaurants remain open, 365 restaurants are currently closed, according to Waffle House tweets, including a showing the restaurants closed and open locations.
Waffle House has not said if it closed the locations because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but has stated that its customers can order carryout meals.
According to USA Today, Waffle House is known for having its own “Waffle House Index”, which is used during natural disasters to assess damage. If a store is closed, it’s likely in an area with significant damage, the newspaper reported.
Waffle House is now one of many restaurants across the country that has shut down dine-in options, a move that has been requested by mayors, senators and others to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
